Motorcycling NSW (MNSW), in conjunction with the MNSW Motocross Sports Committee and host club Lake Macquarie Motorcycle Club, have made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2023 MNSW Senior Motocross State Titles, which were scheduled for June 17 – 18.
The event has been cancelled due to insufficient rider registrations and has created an unfortunate situation where most categories offered did not have sufficient entrants to be contested as a State Championship or viable event. With the numbers well below expectation, MNSW has made this call early on this event, as we were not prepared to allow our host club to undertake significant investment and volunteer output without guarantee of an event proceeding.
MNSW, like all of our community, are extremely disappointed with this outcome. As previously communicated to the community, the 2023 State Titles were formatted from the feedback received through the same senior rider community via the participant survey which was conducted following the competition of the 2022 King of MX.
With this cancellation of the series, there will unfortunately not be Senior Motocross State Titles in 2023. Looking towards the future, MNSW is again asking for feedback regarding the event series and how it can be improved and structured moving forward to ensure greater participation from senior riders. We request you to provide your feedback here
This feedback is critical and we strongly encourage all senior riders within the community to provide their feedback to ensure a race format is provided that meets the needs and expectations of this segment of the community. Following these submissions, the feedback will also be reviewed by the MNSW Motocross Sports Committee, Board and Office.
MNSW would like to extend our sincere gratitude to both Lake Macquarie Motorcycle Club and previous event hosts Coffs Harbour Motorcycle Club for their efforts leading up to these State Titles. We recognise and appreciate their time, energy, and resources that have been invested in preparing for these events. For any host clubs of State Titles, it is a serious investment of time and resources. We can advise that we will be working with both Clubs for other hosting opportunities in 2024.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation and look forward to a successful MNSW Motocross State Titles in 2024.
