The meeting saw the re-election of Director Chelsea Cheney to another three-year term, the election of a new Director, Max Hegerman, to a three-year term, and the election of Michael Miceli to a two-year term. These elected directors join the existing board members Madeleine Bowditch, Nathan Hussey, and Ian Lieblich. The meeting also marked the retirement of Director Tanya Raffoul, who joined the board in 2023.
Chair of Motorcycling NSW, Madeleine Bowditch, expressed her enthusiasm about the elections: “We are thrilled to welcome back Chelsea Cheney for another term and to have Max Hegerman and Michael Miceli join our board. Each of these individuals brings a unique set of skills and experiences that will be invaluable as we continue to grow and develop the sport of motorcycling in NSW and the ACT. Their commitment and passion for the sport will undoubtedly contribute to our goal of getting more people on more bikes in more locations more often.”
Chief Executive of Motorcycling NSW, Daniel Rushworth, also commented on the future outlook: “The re-election of Chelsea Cheney, and the additions of Max Hegerman and Michael Miceli to our board, is a great step for our organisation. I am certain that their diverse skills, knowledge and backgrounds will help us to enhance and achieve our strategic objectives. I look forward to working together to enhance our organisation and the broader motorcycling community.”
Chelsea Cheney, re-elected Director, shared her gratitude about continuing her role: “I am honoured to be re-elected and to have the opportunity to continue working with this incredible team. Over the past years, we’ve made significant strides, and I am committed to building on this momentum to further enhance the sport we all love.”
Newly elected Director Max Hegerman expressed his excitement: “I am thrilled to join the Motorcycling NSW Board and bring my lifelong passion for motorcycling to this incredible community. Growing up in the U.S., I spent my early years immersed in the world of motocross, trials, and even snowmobile racing, which instilled in me a deep love for the sport. With my background in strategic and creative direction for some of the largest global brands, I look forward to leveraging my experience to expand the awareness and reach of motorcycling in NSW and the ACT. My goal is to foster a stronger sense of connection and engagement within the community, ensuring that more people can experience the joy and fulfillment that motorcycling brings.”
Michael Miceli, also newly elected, expressed his enthusiasm: “”I am thrilled to be joining the Motorcycling NSW board of directors. As a passionate motorsports enthusiast, I admire the organisation’s dedication to promoting safety, advocacy, and enjoyment for riders across the state. This opportunity allows me to contribute my skills and experience directly to the motorcycling community in NSW.
Beyond my personal connection, I believe my experience in risk and governance will be valuable to Motorcycling NSW’s strategic direction. The board’s focus on providing a consistent and accessible framework for participation in motorcycling aligns perfectly with my own desire to expand motorcycling in NSW. I’m confident that by working collaboratively with the other board members, we can make a positive impact on the future of motorcycling in NSW.”
Motorcycling NSW would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to retiring Director Tanya Raffoul for her service and contributions to the organisation. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
