Road Racing is another popular form of competition, thanks in part to the popularity of MotoGP and World Superbike on the world stage. Road racing bikes are usually commercially available production motorcycles designed for street use, with minor modifications to convert them to racing machines. Purpose-built asphalt race tracks, usually around 3km long or more, allow for side-by-side racing, fast cornering and high speeds on the straights – often exceeding 280km/h.
