It was an evening to remember for everyone in the state’s motorcycling community, with St George Motorcycle Club‘s very own Chris Baker being honoured with the Distinguished Long Service Award last evening at the 2023 Sport NSW Community Sports Awards.
The Distinguished Long Service Award is given to those who have given exceptional service to their sport for over 25 years. Chris has been hugely involved in motorcycling for close to seven decades, having been a member of the St George Motorcycle Club since 1970. He first took to road racing a year after joining the club, eventually also trying his hand at Enduro and Motocross in the coming years. Apart from winning many laurels for his riding achievements at state and national levels, Chris also served as President of St George Motorcycle Club for eleven years, also being awarded Life Membership in 1985. Continuing to passionately serve the sport as an official at many State, National and International events, MNSW honoured him with the Distinguished Services Award last year at the 2022 MNSW Awards.
