Motorcycling NSW Limited (MNSW) regrets to announce the resignation of its Chairperson and Board Director, Mr. Darren Gossling, effective June 15. Mr. Gossling has made this difficult decision due to growing opportunities with his business, and his other long-standing responsibilities, including other board commitments, which therefore means he would not be able to provide the time required for MNSW’s continued success.
Mr. Gossling believes that stepping down is the responsible course of action to ensure the continued progress and development of MNSW.
During his tenure of 18 months as Chairperson, Mr. Gossling has played a pivotal role in stabilising and advancing the business and sport of motorcycling in New South Wales. Under his leadership, the MNSW Board has achieved remarkable progress following the difficulty of the pandemic, including re-stabilisation of the organisation, significant governance reform, and implementation of the 2023-2026 MNSW Strategic Plan.
Mr. Gossling expressed his deep regret at having to make this decision, stating, “It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation as Chairperson of MNSW. The organisation and our community of riders, officials and volunteers mean the world to me, however, at this time, I must prioritise my business commitments. I am confident that the capable and dedicated Board and operational team led by the CEO at MNSW will continue to steer the sport to even greater heights.”
The Board of MNSW extends its gratitude to Mr. Darren Gossling for his outstanding leadership, vision, and tireless efforts in advancing the sport throughout his tenure.
In further unfortunate news, Mr. Tim Austen, who was only recently elected to the MNSW Board at the annual general meeting on May 25, has also made the difficult decision to step down from his position due to personal reasons that require his immediate attention and focus.
Mr. Austen expressed his regret, saying, “It is with deep disappointment that I announce my resignation from the position as a Director of MNSW. Unfortunately, personal matters demand my immediate focus and attention, leaving me unable to fulfill the responsibilities of a Director of MNSW. ”
Following these recent events, the MNSW Board convened a meeting and has now appointed Co-Chairs in Director Chelsea Cheney and Director Madeleine Bowditch as an interim measure. The Board acknowledged their priority is to advertise and ultimately recruit directors on to the MNSW Board.
The Board has initiated a process for identifying new Directors to fulfil these casual vacancies and carry on the mission and vision of the organisation. In the interim, the existing Board members will work collaboratively to ensure a seamless transition and maintain the organisation’s momentum. Additional information will be provided to the community at the upcoming June Delegates Meeting to be held on June 22, 2023, at the Blacktown Workers Club.
