Grading only applies to senior riders. All new senior riders, including juniors transitioning to senior, will automatically be graded in the relevant amateur class unless they fall into the exemption category as per the discipline by-laws.
Subcommittees review results at open meeting competitions periodically and advise MNSW of riders who have been regraded.
Riders who wish to be considered for regrading at any time can email MNSW with supporting evidence (results and experience) to be forwarded on to the relevant sports committee.
The following Motorcycling New South Wales gradings lists are currently available:
Need to be re-graded?
Motocross
As per the MNSW MX Bylaws seniors are allocated as A Grade, B Grade or C Grade.
All Senior Grading will be updated twice per calendar year for meetings held 1 January – 30 June and 1 July – 31 December. If a senior rider wishes to apply for an upgrade prior to the assessment period, you can apply for a regrading by submitting a Grading Request Form to the MNSW office .
All new senior riders (including juniors’ transitioning to senior), will automatically be placed in C grade unless the junior rider finishes in the top 3 places at the NSW State Titles or the Top 10 at Junior MX Nationals. These junior riders will automatically be graded as B Grade.
To be re-graded from C grade to B grade a rider must earn 15 C grade points within a 2-year period.
To be re-graded from B grade to A grade a rider must earn 20 points within a 2-year period as a B grade rider.
Riders wishing to be downgraded for circumstances such as long-term injuries, significant time out of the sport etc. can also submit a Grading Request Form for consideration by the committee.
Road Race
As per the Road Race Bylaws, grading is A, B, C or D Grade.
All senior riders commencing Road Racing shall be initially graded as D Grade unless riders are already graded as A or B for Motocross or Speedway. These riders will commence Road Racing in C grade.
Junior riders that turn 16 will be automatically graded as D, unless that rider competed in at least 3 road race events in the previous 12 months then they will be graded C.
Any senior A or B-graded rider who has not competed in Road Racing in the past 2 years will be downgraded one grade if they return to racing.
D Grade riders who compete in a minimum of 3 events in a 12-month calendar period will be regraded to C grade for the following year.
Riders wishing to be re-graded can submit a Grading Request Form to the MNSW office.
