Licencing FAQ
Who do I notify a change of address to?
Log into your Ridernet account and change address details via ‘My Profile’.
Junior Competition and Licences
A rider’s age on 1st January will determine their age for competition and licensing purposes for that year. A rider may move to the next higher age class when they become eligible by reason of celebrating a birthday, but once the rider moves to that higher age class, they may not move back to the lower age class in that discipline.
This rule applies to all riders up to and including the age of 16 years. All juniors who are 15 on January 1st and turn 16 during the year may ride as a junior with a junior licence for the entire year. This licence will expire on 31st December. The rider is then required to apply for an upgrade to a senior licence with an upgrade fee. The expiry date on the senior licence will then revert back to the original expiry date i.e. 12 months from original renewal date.
If a 16 yr old rider chooses to upgrade to senior then they cannot compete again as a junior not even to complete a series. A Senior licence will not be issued until their Junior licence is returned.
If I upgrade my licence during the year is there any additional cost?
Yes, if you upgrade your licence, e.g. Junior National to a Senior National, you must pay the difference between the two licences.
Upgrades from recreational/mini to competitive licenses must supply the compulsory items for a first time licence such as drivers licence or birth certificate. First time testing document questionnaire, (juniors must supply the kickstart book signed by a accredited coach), club membership and ambulance cover.
How long does my licence last?
A licence is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
My licence has been issued but I have not received it.

Check receipt to confirm whether you paid for a hard copy of your licence. If you did not, please download the “Motorcycling Australia” App, log in and open up your virtual licence.
Alternatively, you can order a hard copy via Ridernet.
What if my licence has expired ?
You cannot participate in an event until you receive your new licence. You could purchase a One Meeting Competition licence or One Meeting Recreational Licence.
What type of licence should I apply for?
A National Competition licence entitles holders to compete in all permitted National/Open, (including Australian and State Championships), Club and Interclub events.
A Restricted license entitles holders to compete in Moto Trials, Fast 50’s Mini Moto, & Pocket Bikes.
Mini licenses are for Junior aged riders (4-16) and entitles the holder to participate in recreational events and Minikhana. Including 50cc Demo class event for 4-U9 years.
A Recreational license is recreational only and entitles the holder to ride non-competitive events including practice ride days and trail rides.
