It’s the weekend all motocross enthusiasts in and around the state have been waiting for. After two terrific weekends over the past two months, Wagga Motorcycle Sports Club is gearing up to host the final round of this year’s NSW Motocross State Titles this June at their spectacular venue, with riders from around the state heading down for the weekend of June 8th and 9th.
A Club steeped in motorcycling history
Established in 1958, Wagga Motorcycle Sports Club has been home to a great variety of disciplines spanning from Motocross, Arena/Stadium cross, Enduro to Amcross. Over the years, the club has staged many State Titles, with the most recent one being two years ago at the final of the 2022 King of MX. Among many local legends from the club who have made their name in the sport are Erol Willis, Joel Passlow and the 2023 MX3 Champion Byron Dennis.
What to expect at the track
A 2.2km long track with 40 gates and concrete starts await riders this time round, with recent upgrades including an addition of a bulk load of sand to various sections of the track sure to support all the action. A very fast and flowy track that consists of table tops, rollers and whoops awaits us all, with the brand new layout delivered from First Traxx.
The club has opened up the spectator’s hill which offers a sweeping view of the entire track for spectators to sit back and enjoy. Other upgrades at the venue include more parking spaces, a brand new sprinkler system around the complete course of the track.
Sharing his excitement about the event weekend, club president Adam Beck said: “I’m extremely proud of the club and the volunteers that are making the state titles possible at the Wagga Motorcycle Sports Club. I have watched local riders come through from nippers and develop into some of the club’s best riders, and I look forward to watching some great racing as the facility comes to light.”
Local riders to watch out for
Some of Wagga Motorcycle Sports Club’s up-and-coming riders expected to rev up the weekend are Lachie Vincent, Billy Clark, Geordie Taylor, Cameron Shaw and Archie Pollard. The club is also excited to witness their very own pocket rocket Eliza Dennis who runs a fantastic race and shows her dominants in the 85cc class along with Brax Pollard.
