The weekend we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! The opening round of this year’s NSW Motocross State Titles is underway at Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club, with riders from across the state and varied age groups coming together to give it their all on a fantastic track here. 

While we’re expecting an overwhelming number of families, motocross enthusiasts and fans to come down to Lake Macquarie and catch all the action this weekend, we are also excited to inform you that you can now watch the round live from the comfort of your home, on our YouTube channel, courtesy of Sideline Sport.

For motocross enthusiasts around and beyond the state, Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club has been a much-loved destination for decades – and it came as no surprise when the venue’s confirmation as hosts of round 1 of this year’s NSW MX State Titles thrilled everyone in the motorcycling community. 

Scheduled to host round 1 on Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24, the club last hosted a State Championship in 2020, while it continued to host an eclectic range of Open events between then and now. 

A Rich History

Ever since its inception back in 1976, Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club has been home to many champion riders including the likes of Chad Reed and Craig Anderson, both of whom have been life members of the club as well. Over the last few decades, the venue has hosted major events like East Coast MX, Summer X, Lakes Memorial Weekend, as well as hosting visiting clubs with their series events. 

Unsurprisingly enough, the club notched up two major awards last year at the Motorcycling NSW Awards night, taking home the Club of the Year and Youth Volunteer of the Year. This was preceded in 2022 when the club’s very own Carlie Roberts was named Volunteer of the Year as well as Administrator of the Year at that year’s Motorcycling NSW Awards.

An Upgraded Track & Local Talent to Watch Out For

True to its consistent and successful efforts in providing the best experience for riders and the broader motorcycling community every year, Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club has undertaken refurbishment over the last year and a half which includes an upgraded track, sign-on, as well as medical facilities. At the upcoming opening round of the MX State Titles, the venue also looks forward to serving its attendees with a canteen that will remain open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with barista-made coffee and a slushie machine.

An attractively challenging track awaits us all this time round, with 40 gates and 1.6km of natural terrain which is sure to suit a wide range of riders across levels and age groups, from beginners to pros. Sharing her excitement and pride about hosting round 1, club president Carlie Roberts said: “The opportunity brings a great deal of prestige and recognition to the club. It’s a chance for us to showcase our venue, facilities, as well as local and national motocross talent.”

“Major events like the State Titles attract a broader audience, allowing our club to engage with the local community and bring people together around a shared passion for motocross. The economic impact is also worth noting, with the spending tendencies of the visitors, riders and spectators sure to benefit the local area,” she added.

Alongside being proud hosts of round 1, Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club is also exhilarated about its local talent set to feature at the event, particularly among its younger crop of riders like the Burgess brothers (Flynn and Riley), Seth Thomas, Koby Reed among a few.

Three exhilarating rounds await you this year at the 2024 NSW Motocross State Titles, commencing this March. Set to host some of the state’s best and brightest MX talent as well as riders from other states, this year will feature both junior and senior riders in each of these rounds – a change in format from last year.

Round 1 of the State Titles will be hosted by Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club on Saturday 23^rd and Sunday 24^th of March, with the club’s fantastic track located at 24 Cessnock Rd, Ryhope boasting of a rich history of hosting a great range of MX events in the past.

After a thoroughly successful hosting of last year’s final round of the Junior MX State Titles, Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club return to host round 2 of the State Titles on Saturday 27^th and Sunday 28^th of April. Located on 60 Cowarra Access Rd, Wauchope, the fifty-two-year-old club saw close to 165 riders participate in the junior round last year.

Wagga Wagga Motorcycle Sports Club will be proud hosts of the final round of this year’s State Championships, with the club looking forward to bearing witness to all the action on Saturday June 8 and Sunday June 9. Having hosted the memorable King of MX State Final two years ago, the exciting track at 72 Cloughs Rd, Yarragundry is sure to engage and challenge riders from far and wide to give it their all at the weekend.

• 7/u9 50cc Division 2
• 7/u10 65cc
• 10/u12 65cc
• 9/u12 85cc/150cc 4 stroke (Standard Wheel)
• 12/u16 85cc/150cc 4 stroke (Standard & Big Wheel)
• 12/u16 Girls 85cc/150cc 4 stroke (Standard & Big Wheel)
• 13/u16 100cc – 125cc 2 stroke
• 13/u16 128cc to 150cc 2st – 200cc to 250cc 4 stroke
• 13/u16 Years Junior Girls 100cc – 150cc 2 stroke & 250cc 4 stroke

Seniors

• MX 1 A & B GRADES 122cc and over
• MX 2 A & B GRADES up to 250cc
• C Grade  LITES MX2
• C Grade OPEN MX1
• MX 3 14 YRS TO U/18YRS 122CC TO 150CC 2ST & 250CC 4 ST
• MXW WOMENS CLASS All Powers
• VETS OVER 35 YEARS All Powers

Both seniors and juniors classes will have a schedule that sees them ride on both days of each round – another change in format for riders to keep in mind.
