North Coast Road Racers hosted the 1st round of the NSW Tyres4Bikes Short Course Road Race State Championship Series at Lismore on 3-4 August 2024. The weather was perfect for the weekend, with riders attending from Sydney, Brisbane and west to Armidale, making it a huge success.
The program featured practice and qualifying plus 7 rounds of racing over the 2 days for over 90 grid positions with racing in an anti-clockwise direction. The regular short course road racers had some stiff competition from a few new faces.
There was some superb racing over the 2 days, providing lots of entertainment from 7 various classes as well as the support 50cc Demonstration 4-Under 9 Year riders showcasing their skills on the track. Some of the riders were experiencing their first ride on the bitumen.
The Superlite Class had the biggest field with 2023 State Champion, Paul Slade from Armidale, claiming 1st place to put him on his way to defending his championship ahead of Ned Cain and Brett Judge. Paul also finished 2nd in the Stock class behind Ned Cain who is defending his 2023 crown with Brett Judge finishing in 3rd.
The Motard class saw a good field competing, with Lachlan Epis taking out the victory. Lachlan also won the Road Race Heavy (up to 500cc road bike) and the Open Road Race (up to 500cc) on a Ninja 400.
He also broke lap record times for Motard, Road Race Heavy and Open Road Race over the 2 days.
