After what’s been a truly sensational staging of the opening round of this year’s NSW Motocross State Titles by Lake Macquarie Motor Bike Club, the action shifts further up north to Lake Innes where Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club is gearing up to bring you the next round.
Round 2 is slated for April 27 and 28 at their sprawling track which last hosted a Motocross State Championship event only last year, with the club setting the stage for the final round of the Junior MX State Titles last May.
A Local Favourite Track in the Mid North Coast
In operation for over 53 years, Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club have utilised their current venue since 2001. A standout venue in the Mid North Coast, the track has proudly hosted many top-level Motocross state and national events over the years, as well as a few Enduro events. Apart from staging last year’s final round of the Junior Motocross State Championships, Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club was the host of one of the qualifiers of the event from 2022.
Riders and motorcycle enthusiasts from both NSW & Queensland greatly cherish the club’s convenient location, with the track being situated almost halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, right next to the Pacific Highway. Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club boasts of easy vehicle access, plenty of pitting area and the ability to view the track in its entirety from the grandstands.
The track at Hastings Valley is 1,690m long, with added flexibility thanks to the same now being bi-directional. Loamy soil, concrete start gates, along with a sand section provide variety and the track will be prepared by way of ripping and hoeing to allow for a good level of moisture – to give us all what we would typically expect from a State Level event. Recent changes to the track include a step-down and a set of rollers on the approach to the step up.
Among other inviting highlights of the venue are a greatly enjoyed canteen for riders and spectators during racing, clean toilets and showers, 10 motorcycle wash bays as well as aluminium grandstands.
Local riders to watch out for
Boasting of many up-and-coming riders are the hosts, with the likes of Blake Bohannon (Yamaha Supported Rider) in the Senior 65 & Junior 85 classes performing well in the early stages of this season. In the same classes as Blake, Maxi Harris whilst a year younger, is also improving and pushing for a top-10 finish this year.
The club is also thrilled to stage a handful of junior girls fighting for top-five finishes in their respective classes. In the seniors, Oli Paterno who is in his first year of seniors has trained exceptionally hard in the off-season and has been getting good results early on in 2024.
