A track licence is a licence granted by Motorcycling NSW and the Office of Sports. This ensures all possible measures are taken to comply with the standards of the sport, as outlined in the track standards.
These guidelines have been set out to enhance the safety of our riders, participants, officials and all other parties. This includes covering events permitted by Motorcycling NSW at a Motorcycling NSW licensed track with public liability insurance.
For a copy of your current Track Licence please contact the MNSW office and speak to your events officer.
MNSW keeps a record of all licenced venues. To find out if yours has a current licence please email mnsw@motorcycling.com.au
Applicant ensures that the track meets track standards.
Applicant contacts NSW Office of Sport and completes the MVRG application form (please note this cannot be done by MNSW, but needs to be obtained by the club for the track to be approved)
The club sends specific Track Licence Application to their MNSW Event Officer
Private Promoter sends specific Track Licence Application to mnsw@motorcycling.com.au
Track Licence Application forms:
NB: Each individual track requires a separate application
The applicant will also need to submit the below forms along with the track licence application to MNSW:
In addition to the above, the club will need to fill out the below Obstacle Summary form, prior to your track inspection. Please have this completed and provide this to your track inspector.
MNSW appoints inspector to inspect track/venue
The venue inspector sends the report to Motorcycling NSW.
Motorcycling NSW sends the inspection report to Motorcycling Australia to be certified. Once certified, MNSW will issue the track licence.
If passed – The track licence approval is sent from Motorcycling NSW to the NSW Office of Sport. They then issue the MVRG licence.
NB: The applicant will be notified at this stage. However, the track is NOT licenced fully until the MVRG licence is sent to the applicant.
If failed – The club makes outlined changes and notifies MNSW that the changes are complete. The process begins again from step 3.

Dirt Track racing is one of the oldest disciplines of Motorcycle racing in Australia, with many of our facilities dating back to the 1960’s.
Dirt track racing involves competitors navigating a flat, smooth racetrack, which can be either oval shaped or feature an ‘S’ bend in the middle.
The ability to maintain a high cornering speed and ‘slide’ the motorcycle is key to Dirt Track racing, with surfaces ranging from loose granite to oiled dirt. Races are short and sharp, usually no longer than 4-5 laps. The tracks range from 400m (short track) to 1000m (long track).
Dirt Track racing has traditionally been considered a gateway to road racing, with many of Australia’s top road racing competitors having honed their craft through learning to slide in Dirt Track racing.
Dirt track is for all ages and abilities at it lends itself to a starting point for other disciplines. Whether its riding as a race competitor, for recreation or participation as volunteer, official or spectator there is a place in the Dirt Track community for everyone.

Enduro is a form of motorcycle sport run on extended cross-country, off-road courses.
Enduro events usually consist of tracks or ‘trails’ through open cross-country or bushland where riders must navigate many natural obstacles and challenges, including creek crossings and tree stumps.
The main type of enduro event is a time-card enduro, whereby riders depart at intervals over one, or a number of stages and compete in a time trial against the clock.
In its ‘purest’ form, Enduro riding is an extremely popular form of social riding. With fire trails and bushland open to road-registered motorcycles, anyone can take part in enduro-style trail riding at any time, without the need to enter an event at a dedicated facility – or even trailer their motorcycle to the track – meaning sales of this type of motorcycle are substantial.
Enduro caters for beginners through to the very elite. Whether its riding as a race competitor, for recreation or participation as volunteer, official or spectator there is a place in the Enduro community for everyone.
